My hard drive failed on me a few weeks back and I've been revising for my exams. Today is my second out of six exams, Mineralogy.
I am thinking of not returning next year, there is not enough palaeontology offered at my school to make it worth my while. Also I just do not enjoy the hard science aspect of it. The amount of time taken away from the family not to mention the ridiculous foreign fees coupled with the lack of funding through student loans (not enough to cover travel costs to London three times a week plus the mandatory field work to Scotland).
So I gave it my best but in the long run geology is something that does not interest me as much as I thought it would.

Regardless if you continue on or not you have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge, you have also learned to appreciate your family and the fact that you did go back to school. There is no reason you cant pick up a course or class here and there to continue in something that you really are interested in. I am proud of you John, regardless of your decision and the path that you choose to walk. Mom
Good job deciding what your priorities are. I think a lot of people continue when they know its not for them just for the sake of it. Then they are miserable. Sounds like it was fun while it lasted. Some of it anyway.
